Exhibition leads going cold? Call every visiting card — 5% became paying customers for us

You spend lakhs on a stall — at Bharat Tex in Delhi, the CMAI National Garment Fair in Mumbai, the India International Garment Fair in Greater Noida, Gartex Texprocess, or SITEX in Surat. Three exhausting days later you come home with a box of two or three hundred visiting cards. Then Monday arrives, regular work takes over, and most of those cards are never called even once. That box is the most expensive paper in your office.

What we did with our own cards. For one of our own apps, we typed up every card collected at exhibitions and asked SAM — our AI voice agent — to call each one. SAM reminded them where we had met, asked whether they would like a proper demo, and set up a meeting with the interested ones. The result: about 5% of the raw cards we called converted into paid yearly subscriptions. Not 5% of "hot leads" — 5% of the whole box, including the people we barely spoke to at the stall.

Why calling beats WhatsApp blasts. Everyone who visits an exhibition gets the same follow-up: a broadcast message that sinks in a flooded inbox. A phone call two days after the fair, in the prospect's own language — Hindi, Gujarati or English — is different. It gets answered, it gets a real yes/no, and objections surface immediately. SAM handles the whole conversation, books the meeting, and hands you a summary of every call with who is genuinely interested.

The math is almost unfair. At ₹5 per call, working through 300 cards costs about ₹1,500 — less than the taxi to the exhibition. If even one card becomes a customer, the follow-up has paid for itself many times over. The stall cost lakhs; the follow-up costs less than lunch.

How to run it. Put the cards into a simple sheet (name, company, phone), upload it to SamCaller, tell SAM what the call is for — "we met at the fair, offer a demo, book a time" — and set the calling hours. SAM works through the list within permitted hours, honours opt-outs, and you get back a clean list: meeting booked, interested, call later, not interested.
